WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER ELLENBOROUGH PARK HOTEL

Whilst Ellenborough Park has been open in its current capacity as a hotel since 1973, the building itself has stood it’s ground for over 500 years. In 1485, a tenant farmer named Thomas Goodman built, block by block, what we know of today as Ellenborough Park Hotel – with the stunning great hall as its centrepiece. The original coat of arms can still be found over the front door of the main reception. From the 1400’s until the 1940’s, the Hotel changed hands many times, with each owner adding their own stamp, historic relic and addition to the already thriving estate. In 1947, it actually became an all girls school for a moment in time and survived this way until 1973.

Enter the 70’s and the property eventually becomes a hotel for the first time- The De La Bere Hotel . The De La Bere Hotel, Cheltenham, would stay this way until 2008. A tired building at this point, with the need of a major refurbishment and overhaul, the hotel closed it’s doors for two years as major work was carried out to add to, restore and expand the grand estate, even taking the area from a 10 acre plot to an astonishing 90 acre site – covering Cheltenham Racecourse all the way to Cleeve Hill, Cheltenham. In 2010, Ellenborough Park Hotel opened it’s doors and has certainly become one of the finest hotels to be based in the Cotswolds area, making it a perfect location to drop me a message about being your Ellenborough Park Hotel wedding photographer 🙂
