The History of Gorcott Hall

Gorcott Hall, nestled in the breathtaking countryside of Redditch, Warwickshire, is steeped in heritage and grandeur, brimming with stories dating back almost five centuries. This exquisite wedding venue is a 16th-century manor house lovingly preserved to maintain its historic charm. Thomas Holt, a successful wool merchant, built it in 1548 as his family residence. The Hall’s name, “Gorcott”, stems from the “gore”, a triangular piece of land, and “cott”, an old English term for a small shelter. It’s architectural uniqueness lies in its integration of Tudor and Georgian styles, creating a harmonious blend of old-world charm and elegance. Beneath its stately facade harbour secrets of its history; the massive oak beams and mullioned windows whisper tales of the many lives that it has seen. Over the centuries, the Hall has witnessed various ownerships, including the Eades family who acquired it in the mid-18th century. Recent restorations reflect the Hall’s inherent splendour while catering to modern comforts. Today, Gorcott Hall stands proud as a sought-after wedding venue, providing an idyllic backdrop for couples seeking to bind their love story in the tapestry of this historic locale. This cherished landmark continues to write its history while bearing witness to and facilitating the creation of valuable individual histories.
