The History of Cripps Barn
Cripps Barn, situated in the tranquil village of Bibury in Gloucestershire, is a historic wedding venue that carries a rich legacy. Established in 1980, the structure of the barn is a testament to England’s old-world charm, as it was built in 18th-century Cotswold stone. Residing amidst an area of outstanding natural beauty, its surrounding landscapes epitomize the rural beauty of the Cotswolds. Initially, the venue was a place for local festivities and various community events. However, as the barn steadily gained fame for its rustic allure, it transitioned into a much sought-after location for matrimonial ceremonies in the 1990s. Today, the barn is renowned for hosting remarkable weddings in its characteristic rustic setting. While its distinguished history has set a firm foundation, the upkeep and modern amenities provided by Cripps & Co., the company managing the property since the early 2000s, have greatly enhanced the barn’s appeal. Over the decades, Cripps Barn has maintained its quintessentially English character while shaping hundreds of memorable wedding experiences, setting itself as a revered institution in the backdrop of Gloucestershire’s historic legacy. Its history is marked by cherished traditions, tales of love, and an unmistakable sense of place in the heart of the Cotswold countryside.
