The Great Tythe Barn Wedding Photographer
Are you looking for a photographer to cover your wedding at The Great Tythe Barn?
The Great Tythe Barn Weddings
The Great Tythe Barn in Tetbury is one of those venues that makes an impression as soon as you arrive. Dating back to the 16th century, its beautiful Cotswold stone walls, huge wooden beams and character-filled barn create an incredible setting for a wedding that’s full of charm.
The barn can host ceremonies with up to 200 guests, giving everyone plenty of room while still feeling warm and welcoming. Afterwards, the celebrations flow naturally into the reception, whether that’s inside the barn itself or out into the spacious marquee and surrounding grounds.
One of the things couples often appreciate is how practical the venue is too. There’s plenty of parking, good accessibility for guests, and a choice of different spaces depending on the size and style of your wedding.
If you’ve got family and friends travelling from further afield, there’s also a great selection of on-site accommodation. From cosy bed and breakfast rooms to charming cottages and the self-catering Tythe House, there’s plenty of space for everyone to stay close to the celebrations.
Having photographed a wedding here myself, I can see why it’s such a popular choice. It has that perfect balance of rustic character and modern convenience, with loads of opportunities for beautiful photographs throughout the day.
The History of The Great Tythe Barn
The Great Tythe Barn is one of the most recognisable wedding venues in Tetbury, and it’s easy to see why. This beautiful Grade II listed barn dates back to the 16th century and has bags of character, with centuries of history built into its Cotswold stone walls.
Originally, the barn formed part of a large monastic farm where tithes – a tenth of local produce given to the Church – were stored. Over the years it has survived everything from changing farming practices to periods of neglect before being carefully restored during the 1990s.
Today, it’s hard to imagine the barn as anything other than a stunning wedding venue. The restoration has kept all of its original charm while introducing the modern comforts couples expect. From the picturesque courtyard and landscaped gardens to the impressive stone barn itself, every part of the venue feels full of history without sacrificing comfort.
It’s a venue that manages to feel both grand and relaxed, which is a big part of why it’s become such a popular choice for weddings in Gloucestershire.
How To Find The Great Tythe Barn
The Great Tythe Barn is tucked away on the edge of Tetbury, one of the Cotswolds’ most popular market towns, surrounded by beautiful Gloucestershire countryside. It feels peaceful and secluded, yet it’s still easy for guests to reach, making it a brilliant choice whether everyone is local or travelling in for the weekend.
From a photographer’s point of view, it’s a fantastic location. The historic Cotswold stone, open grounds and surrounding countryside all provide a variety of backdrops without having to leave the venue. Whether you’re planning an outdoor drinks reception, golden hour portraits or cosy indoor photos, there’s no shortage of great spots throughout the day.
You’ll find a map below to help you see exactly where The Great Tythe Barn is located.
About Tetbury
Tetbury is one of the Cotswolds’ best-known market towns and is full of the charm you’d expect from this part of Gloucestershire. With its historic stone buildings, independent shops, cosy cafés and traditional streets, it’s well worth exploring if you’re visiting for a wedding.
The town is also home to the famous Highgrove Gardens and sits just a few minutes from Westonbirt Arboretum, making it a great base for a weekend in the Cotswolds. Whether guests are arriving the day before or staying on afterwards, there’s plenty to see and do nearby.
One of the things I like about weddings in Tetbury is that everything feels close together. You get the relaxed pace of the countryside while still having all the amenities you need, and it’s easy to see why so many couples choose this part of Gloucestershire for their wedding day.

Pedge Photography – The Great Tythe Barn Wedding Photographer
I’m a wedding photographer based in Cheltenham, and I absolutely love photographing weddings at The Great Tythe Barn. It’s one of those venues that gives you loads to work with, from the character of the barn itself to the beautiful grounds surrounding it.
My approach is simple. I want you to enjoy your wedding without feeling like you’re on a photoshoot all day. I’ll give you plenty of direction when you need it, especially during your couple portraits, but the rest of the day is about capturing things as they happen.
The moments that matter most to me are often the ones you don’t even notice at the time – your grandparents chatting during drinks, your mates bursting into laughter during the speeches, your parents seeing you in your wedding outfit for the first time. Those are the photographs that become more valuable with every passing year.
If you’re planning your wedding at The Great Tythe Barn and you’re looking for relaxed, natural photography with a bit of personality, I’d love to hear all about your plans.

My Wedding Photography Style
Years of photographing weddings have taught me how to handle just about anything a wedding day can throw at me. Bright sunshine, dark barns, unpredictable weather or packed dance floors – I know how to adapt without making a fuss, leaving you free to enjoy your day.
I’m confident when it comes to organising group photos, keeping things relaxed and efficient, and I’ll guide you through your couple portraits in a way that feels natural rather than awkward. Most couples tell me they were worried about being in front of the camera until they realised how easy and enjoyable it actually was.
My editing style is clean, vibrant and true to life, with rich colours and natural skin tones that won’t look dated in years to come. The goal is always the same: timeless photographs that capture the atmosphere of your wedding and feel just as special every time you look back at them.

FAQs
The Great Tythe Barn Wedding Photographer- why Pedge Photography?
With hundreds of weddings behind me, I know how to keep things relaxed while making sure nothing gets missed. I’ll step in when you need a bit of direction, disappear into the background when you don’t, and adapt to whatever the day throws at us.
I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Every wedding has its own atmosphere, and my job is to capture it naturally while making you feel comfortable in front of the camera.
Having grown up in the Cotswolds and photographed weddings across the region for years, I know many of the venues inside out. That experience means I know where the best light is, the best locations for portraits, and how to make the most of your day whatever the weather.
What products do you offer as a The Great Tythe Barn Wedding Photographer?
