A Relaxed Summer Wedding at The Great Tythe Barn
Some weddings just seem to have everything. Sunshine from start to finish, an incredible venue, colourful styling and two people who were simply determined to enjoy every second of their day. Chloe & Luke’s wedding at The Great Tythe Barn was exactly that.
From the moment I arrived, there was such a relaxed atmosphere. The morning preparations were full of laughter, with Chloe, her bridesmaids and family making the most of the beautiful rooms and gorgeous natural light. Over with Luke, the vibe was equally laid-back as the lads enjoyed a stroll around the grounds with a beer in hand before the celebrations really began.
One of my favourite moments of the morning had to be the reactions. The bridesmaids’ first look at Chloe in her dress was priceless, while her dad’s emotional first look said everything without needing a single word. Those genuine moments are often the ones couples treasure the most.
The styling throughout the day was stunning too. Chloe chose beautifully vibrant mismatched bridesmaid dresses that brought so much colour and personality to the day, complementing the warm Cotswold stone of The Great Tythe Barn perfectly. Combined with the clear blue skies and gardens in full bloom, everything felt effortlessly summery.
Their outdoor ceremony couldn’t have been more perfect. Surrounded by over 100 of their closest family and friends, Chloe & Luke exchanged vows before walking back down the aisle into a brilliant confetti throw, setting the tone for an afternoon full of laughter, drinks in the sunshine and guests making the most of every corner of the venue.
As the evening rolled around, we made the most of the soft golden light with a short walk into the neighbouring fields. There wasn’t a dramatic sunset, but we certainly didn’t need one. The warm evening sky, open countryside and a couple completely wrapped up in each other created some of my favourite photographs from the entire day.
Looking back, this was one of those weddings where everything simply clicked. A stunning venue, wonderful people and a couple who trusted me completely to document their day naturally. Having photographed my first wedding at The Great Tythe Barn, I came away hoping it wouldn’t be my last.

A Photographer’s Perspective on The Great Tythe Barn
Having photographed my first wedding at The Great Tythe Barn, it’s safe to say I came away hoping it wouldn’t be my last. It’s a venue that offers so much variety throughout the day, from the light-filled preparation rooms and beautiful gardens to the stunning barn itself and the surrounding Cotswold countryside.
One of the things I enjoyed most was how effortlessly the day flowed. Everything is within easy walking distance, so there was never any need to rush from one part of the venue to another. Whether it was the outdoor ceremony, drinks reception on the lawn or the evening celebrations inside the barn, every part of the day felt relaxed and gave me plenty of opportunities to capture natural, unposed moments.
As the evening light softened, we took a short walk into the neighbouring fields for Chloe & Luke’s couple portraits. While we didn’t have a dramatic sunset, the warm golden skies and open countryside created a beautiful backdrop, proving you don’t always need an epic sunset to create memorable photographs.
One thing that really stood out to me throughout the day was the team at The Great Tythe Barn. The staff couldn’t have been more attentive, not only to Chloe & Luke and their guests but to all of the suppliers too. Everyone was looked after, nothing ever felt rushed and the whole day ran effortlessly from start to finish. As a wedding photographer, those are the kinds of venues you love working at because it allows everyone to focus on giving the couple the very best experience.
The Great Tythe Barn is also a fantastic venue from a photographer’s point of view. The gardens are beautifully maintained, the honey-coloured Cotswold stone provides timeless backdrops, and there are fantastic photo opportunities throughout the grounds without ever needing to take couples away from their guests for long.
Quite simply, it ticks every box. Beautiful surroundings, an incredibly well-organised team, a relaxed atmosphere and endless opportunities for natural photographs. I genuinely couldn’t have asked for a better first experience here, and I can’t wait to be back photographing many more weddings at The Great Tythe Barn.
