The History of The Barn at Upcote

Situated amidst the serene beauty of the renowned Cotswold Hills in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, The Barn at Upcote is a unique wedding venue with a fascinating history. The Upcote Farm, home to The Barn, can trace its roots back to the 17th century, though the date of original construction is unrecorded. The traditional Cotswold stone barns, crafted with an elegant blend of modernity and antiquity, weren’t repurposed as a wedding venue until the 21st century. In 2012, the Stewart family, current owners of the estate, embarked on an ambitious project to restore and improve these charming historic barns. Their vision was to highlight the barns’ rich character, while ensuring that the venue catered to both contemporary and classic tastes. Extensive renovations, whilst maintaining the original structural qualities, transformed these long-standing barns into a versatile celebration ground in 2016. Since then, it has witnessed countless matrimonial ceremonies and receptions. The Barn at Upcote, today, stands as a testament to the delicate balance of respecting heritage while embracing change, offering an idyllic location for couples to cherish one of the most memorable events in their lives.

I take great pride to subtly merge into your day and to be approachable for all your guests. The Cotswolds is an area I grew up in and I am all too familiar with everything the region has to offer.
