Kat & Chris’ Spring Wedding at Lapstone Barn
“Pedge, these photos are absolutely incredible. You’ve captured so many moments we didn’t even realise had happened…”
Introduction: Alice & Damon’s Lapstone Barn wedding
There’s something about spring weddings that just feels optimistic, and Kat & Chris’ April wedding at Lapstone Barn was exactly that. Blue skies, a brilliant group of family and friends, and a couple who were determined to enjoy every second of the day.
There was one very important guest who deserves a mention straight away too – Simba. Their little Yorkshire Terrier was a huge part of the celebrations and, if you asked Kat, very much the VIP of the day! Seeing him wandering around greeting guests and popping up throughout the day made everything feel even more personal.
One of the things I love about photographing weddings at Lapstone Barn is how naturally the day flows. The venue has plenty of space for guests to relax, while giving me loads of opportunities to capture genuine moments without constantly pulling people away from the celebrations.
As the day unfolded, there were plenty of moments that nobody saw coming. During the speeches, one of Chris’ groomsmen suddenly appeared wearing a giant bear costume, which completely caught everyone off guard and had the whole room laughing. It’s those unexpected moments that often become some of the best memories from a wedding day.
Kat & Chris had also put together some fantastic entertainment for their guests. Alongside the celebrations, a live illustrator created beautiful keepsakes throughout the day while a magician worked his way around the room, giving guests something to talk about long after the wedding was over. It all added to a relaxed, fun atmosphere from start to finish.
As if the day hadn’t already delivered enough, April treated us to a gorgeous sunset. We slipped away for ten minutes while everyone else carried on enjoying the evening, making the most of the golden light around Lapstone Barn. Those quiet moments together often end up being some of my favourite photographs from the whole day.
It’s weddings like this that remind me why I enjoy photographing at Lapstone Barn so much. Every couple brings something completely different, and Kat & Chris filled the day with personality, laughter and thoughtful touches that made it unmistakably theirs.
If you’re planning your own wedding at Lapstone Barn and you’re looking for relaxed, natural photography that captures the atmosphere as well as all the big moments, I’d love to hear about your plans.

A Photographers Perspective for Lapstone Barn
I’ve photographed a number of weddings at Lapstone Barn over the years, and it’s a venue that never disappoints. Every couple puts their own stamp on the day, but the venue always delivers beautiful spaces to work with.
One of the biggest advantages is that it’s surrounded by open countryside. The best spot for sunset portraits changes depending on the time of year, but there’s always somewhere nearby to make the most of that golden evening light. We never have to disappear for ages either – a quick ten-minute stroll is usually all it takes to create some of my favourite images from the day.
The Manor House is another favourite location of mine. The honey-coloured Cotswold stone, landscaped gardens and mature trees make it a brilliant backdrop for portraits, and it instantly gives your photographs that classic Cotswolds feel.
Inside, Lapstone Barn is just as enjoyable to photograph. The bright interiors, neutral tones and white walls help keep everything feeling light and airy, whatever the weather is doing outside. Combine that with the relaxed, friendly team who keep the day running effortlessly, and it’s easy to see why it’s one of my favourite Cotswold wedding venues to work at.
If you’re planning your wedding at Lapstone Barn, you’ll be choosing a venue that not only looks fantastic but also gives us plenty of opportunities to create natural, relaxed photographs from start to finish.
