The History of Elmore Court

Dating back to the 13th-century, Elmore Court is a historic wedding venue set in the enchanting English countryside of Elmore, Gloucestershire. This luxurious location has been in the hands of the Guise family for more than 750 years and has a significant history to its name. The Court was initially a humble dwelling until its transformation in the 16th-century when it was significantly expanded. As the years passed, Elmore Court continued to evolve. The 19th-century saw the addition of the distinctive Gothic facade that has now become one of the venue’s hallmarks. Most recently, in 2013, the Court completed a substantial renovation, emphasizing both the preservation of its historic elements and incorporating state-of-the-art accoutrements. The latest addition is an eco-friendly extension called the Gillyflower, built predominantly from sustainable materials sourced from the estate itself. This part of the venue is used as a celebration space for weddings and parties. Throughout its extraordinary history, Elmore Court has adeptly maintained its quintessential English charm, making it a highly sought-after wedding destination. In spite of its renovations and additions, the Court still possesses a unique ability to transport visitors back in time, providing an unparalleled historical experience.

About Elmore

Elmore, in Gloucestershire, is a small, picturesque town situated on the banks of the river Severn, in rural England. It boasts a history that stretches back to the medieval era and has maintained its quaint and charming atmosphere through time. Elmore is dominated by well-preserved architectural marvels, such as the idyllic 13th-century Church of St John the Baptist and the (privately owned) Elmore Court, a sublime example of Victorian Gothic architecture. Additionally, the town boasts abundant green spaces, and its pastoral surroundings make it ideal for countryside walks, especially along the banks of the majestic Severn. Despite its small size, Elmore has a strong sense of community, highlighted by the annual Elmore Back Festival, a local tradition. It serves as a venue for local produce markets, traditional English fare, live music, and family-friendly activities. Elmore’s location, just eight miles from Gloucester, makes it ideal for visitors wanting to experience quintessential rural England, yet still have the convenience of larger city amenities nearby. Combining rich history, charming aesthetics, and a warm community spirit, Elmore is deservedly one of Gloucestershire’s gems.

Picking your Elmore Court Wedding Photographer- why Pedge Photography?

Besides the fact that you are getting a highly professional, experienced, and creative photographer who will capture all of the special moments of your wedding day, family and friends, you are getting someone that goes in to each wedding knowing that every couple is unique and that all weddings deserve their own twist and personality, rather than be provided a conveyor belt experience. I take great pride to subtly merge into your day and to be approachable for all your guests. The Cotswolds is an area I grew up in and I am all too familiar with everything the region has to offer.

What products do you offer as a Elmore Court Wedding Photographer?

This can bespoke based on your needs. All packages include a digital gallery in which you, your family and friends can enter with a password and download to any device. On top of this, you can also purchase prints, framed goods and albums through the digital gallery. If you would like me to build you an album, I offer an additional album package as well. Other bits, should you wish to choose them, include a pre-wedding shoot in the cotswolds or a second photographer for your wedding day.

How long do you stay with us for our Elmore Court wedding?

I’m an all day photographer and will be with you from roughly two hours before your ceremony until at least the first dance ( and beyond – got to catch all those drunk friends cutting some shapes on the dancefloor!).

Will you travel beyond the Cotswolds for our wedding day?

Of course! Although I describe myself as a Cotswolds wedding photographer, I am happy to travel beyond. Drop me a message to find out more!
