The History of Tewkesbury Park Hotel
Tewkesbury Park Hotel, located in the historic town of Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, boasts a rich history as an idyllic wedding venue. The setting was initially constructed in 1864 by the Earl of Northbrook as a grand private family estate. The mansion, set on 163 acres of parkland, offered breathtaking views of both the Severn Vale and Cotswold Hills, making it a coveted site. In 1945, Tewkesbury Abbey’s local parish bought the property and utilized it for a time as a school. Then in 1976, it was transformed into Tewkesbury Park Hotel, and the charm of the 19th-century architecture was preserved, paired with modern comforts. As a wedding venue, it became highly sought after for its combination of historical allure and picturesque landscape. The venue has exquisite reception rooms, an 18-hole golf course, tennis courts, and a health club, catering to a diverse range of wedding-related needs. In recent years, Tewkesbury has drawn couples not only from the United Kingdom but also on a global scale. The rich history and spectacular aesthetics of Tewkesbury Park Hotel continue to make it one of Gloucestershire’s premier wedding venues.
