The History of The Frogmill Cheltenham

The Frogmill Cheltenham is a noted wedding venue nestled at the heart of Andoversford in Gloucestershire. With its first mention dating back to the time of the Doomsday Book (1086), the venue preserves a profound sense of historical heritage. Its name, “The Frogmill,” was inspired by the historical presence of paper and corn mills that were established on the facility’s site during the 11th to 16th centuries. Interestingly, the term “Frog” is believed to have evolved from the Anglo-Saxon term ‘frig’ meaning ‘free’ – an embodiment of the peace and tranquillity the place possesses. Formerly an inn during the 17th century, it became widely-modernised in 2007, transitioning into a perfect blend of rustic beauty and modern elegance. The Frogmill has become an ideal wedding venue, offering spacious indoor and outdoor locations accompanied by luxury accommodation. In addition, the beautiful river Windrush flows by, offering a breathtaking landscape that enchants many couples. Today, The Frogmill Cheltenham resonates with a historical charm that provides a unique experience for couples and their guests, celebrating one of life’s most significant events amidst the venue’s fascinating history. This picturesque venue continues to enchant its visitors, embodying an irreproducible fusion of past and contemporary elegance.

About Andoversford

Andoversford is a picturesque, historic town that lies within the charming countryside of Gloucestershire in South West England. Primarily known for its rural appeal and ambient tranquility, this village is interconnected by broadleaf woodlands, fields, and trout streams that add to its serene allure. Originally a coaching town, Andoversford is nestled at the intersection of major roads from Cheltenham, Stow-on-the-Wold, Cirencester, and Gloucester, making it a pivotal point in the region’s transportation history. The town is home to several ancient structures, including the 19th century-built Church of St Michael and a few Cotswold stone houses, that hint at its enriching past. The community is small but vibrant, offering a welcoming, convivial atmosphere. The locale hosts a regular horse racing event termed as ‘point-to-point racing’ in autumn and spring, showcasing an integral part of its cultural identity. Modern amenities include local shops, pubs, and schooling facilities, helping retain its socio-economic fabric. It is also only a short distance away from the larger urban delights of Cheltenham, offering an ideal balance between rural calm and urban accessibility. Andoversford represents a classic example of traditional English village life, where the past is revered and contemporariness embraced gracefully.
