The History of Owlpen Manor
Owlpen Manor, nestled in Uley, Gloucestershire, boasts a fascinating history, playing a pivotal role as a luxurious wedding venue esteemed for its timeless elegance and charm. It is a quintessential English country manor, established during the early Tudor era around 1460, known for its exceptional architectural design and illustrious heritage. Steeped in history, this Manor has passed through the hands of several prominent families over the centuries, including the Daunt family who presided over it for more than three centuries. Intricate decorative pieces from the Tudor, Elizabethan, and Regency periods grace its elegant interiors today, further enhancing its appeal. It was under the proprietorship of the Mander family, in 1974, that Owlpen Manor blossomed into the in-demand wedding venue it is today, an idyllic setting for couples seeking to infuse their special day with historical significance and timeless elegance. The property’s picturesque gardens, breathtaking vistas, and intimate Cyder House enhance its allure as the perfect location to tie the knot. Today, Owlpen Manor stands not only as a testament to British architectural and cultural heritage, but also as a venue of preference for couples looking for a touch of historical grandeur in their wedding celebrations.
