The History of Mickleton Hills Farm

Established in the heart of England, nestled in the idyllic Gloucestershire countryside, lies the historical wedding venue, Mickleton Hills Farm. The farm, entrenched with English charm and elegance, dates back to the Jacobean era, a factor making it an exquisite place to exchange vows. The history of Mickleton Hills Farm is rich and layered, illustrating the evolution of hospitality and event hosting over centuries. Initially, it operated as a traditional arable and livestock farming site, contributing significantly to Gloucestershire’s agrarian industry. Over time, it evolved into an eminent social space renowned for hosting celebrations and gatherings, including weddings. The privilege to first host weddings came in the 20th century, making it a specialty of the estate. One of the unique features that underlines its historical significance is the Barn, which was transformed from a livestock shelter into a luxurious reception setting. What has remained constant over the centuries is the warm reception guests at the farm have always received, which underpins its current reputation as a sought-after wedding venue. Today, Mickleton Hills Farm paints a picture of a beautifully conserved piece of the past, harmoniously fusing the old and new to offer an unforgettable experience.

About Mickleton

Mickleton, located in Gloucestershire, England, is a tranquil, quiescent town with a rich history and stunning natural beauty. Nestled at the northern extremity of the Cotswold Hills, it is the last stop on the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway, earning it prominence amongst rail enthusiasts. With a population just over 1000 residents, Mickleton is a community-driven town which still celebrates centuries-old traditions. Prominent landmarks include Hidcote Manor Garden, renowned for its Arts and Crafts style garden, and Kiftsgate Court Gardens, both of which offer sweeping, panoramic views of the surrounding Malvern Hills. The historic St Lawrence’s Church is an architectural gem, housing a 12th-century font and intriguing interior dalliances. Meonside, the town’s iconic thatched cottage, adds to the quaint, timeless aesthetic. Its mixed agriculture industry thrives with Sheep Street Meadow, a local nature reserve, providing a variety of flora and fauna. The annual vegetable and flower show, Mickleton’s enduring tradition, engages the community in horticultural pursuits. Eminent as the home of the vegetable called “Three-cornered Leek,” Mickleton’s cultivation of this exclusive crop speaks to its unique local culture. Thus, Mickleton’s charm lies in the successful amalgamation of history, countryside beauty, and community spirit.
